The Easy Way to Secure a Braid Without an Elastic

At a recent launch event for Alterna Haircare's new bamboo products, celebrity hairstylist Michael Shaun demonstrated a braid technique that completely captivated an entire room full of women. He called it the "organic braid" and it was really basic...except that it magically secured itself at the end—no elastic, ribbon or knotting required.
You start by loosely dividing the hair you want to braid into three sections—but don't separate them completely at the bottom. Then, begin to braid normally but without pulling the strands through. At first, you'll think you're getting a knotted mess at the end, but it's actually turning into a braid, as well—except it's upside down. (You really need to try it yourself to believe it.) To finish it off, simply loop the bottom half through the middle of the braid and pull. It will hold until you choose to take it out—and it looks just as summery and adorable as any braided style.
